Mutual Discrepancy

This video's just about a year old but every time I watch it it feel like it's the first time [#STREETARTCRUSH]. I love these guys and this video because of the fact that the both of them are on two totally different wavelengths but are able to come together and go beast mode all over this mural space. I have no idea why I didn't post this nine months ago considering that I found it about a week after it released, but I guess the good stuff is worth waiting for in some cases. Gaia and NohJColey present: Mutual Discrepancy.

A View Askew

More street art goodness but this time we're a bit heavy on the politics. I know I'm not the most well rounded with my interest in the arts, but I think it's safe to say that this is one of my favorite street artist as of late. The style is good and the stencils are always authentic and I can appreciate that. Most of his pieces are largely based on culture jamming tactics [more on that later] with a good amount of spray paint to mull it all over.

Unfortunately, I have only one problem with this fella. Most [if not all] of his work exist within the confines of Columbus, Ohio. This means that few, if anyone, knows about this guy and the great work the he does. If he only had a little more cash to branch out I'd bet money on him soon becoming a household name. Did I forget to mention his name? My apologies, time can fly when you're busy trying to think of clever things to say.Vinchen, the guys name is Vinchen.

And one more thing. As I was about to post this I realized what a terrible mistake I've made. Instead of referring to the artist in a neutral mode, I kept referring to him [or her] as if the artist is a male. I don't really know the gender of the above street artist and as an alpha male, I have to work on my referencing. Women do dope S#!t too.
MY BAD.

It Goes Down in Greece?

Who would a thought? It's been a minute since I've hooked you guys up with some street art goodness but I guess it's always better late than never. Athens native
DIMITRIS TAXIS brings on a fresh look to the scene, making extensive use of his comic book-esque style for nearly all of his paintings and wheatpaste. He seems to be making a name for himself, so his success is all pretty much understandable. Needless to say, dude is legit.

The Only Way to Propose to a Woman

The only way this could be any cooler is if he would of done it himself. I may not be the biggest fan of this style of graffiti but dude used great paint and the message was awesome so that really doesn't matter. I could of cried when the kids stepped in.

SIDE NOTE: This is Houston graffiti! That means if I look hard enough I'll be able to find it somewhere. Honestly, I gotta love it. Our subcultures don't get enough love around these parts. The artist is ACK! so if your interested, right HERE.

Steady Taming Nature

Gaia's bringing wheatpaste [and the jew fro] back to life. As much as I'd love to see some of my favorite artist doin their thing [illegally of course] it's just so hard to find a decent video that isn't obscured by bad lighting and questionable settings. This video however, is one of the few exceptions. Taming Nature gives a more experienced step by step process of what it takes to wheatpaste, offering all us amatures and admirers a small glimpse into the counture culture. I've watched the video about a million times since I found it in October, so I figured this'd be a good a time as any to share it with the blog fam. 4 points for the Major Lazer audio.

Banksy I Thank You

I like to think that you know your city's big when....Banksy does pieces all over your streets. Ever since his premiere of Exit Through the Gift Shop he's been popping up all over the place, San Francisco being one of them. Now even though it's been quite some time since I've visited my hometown I just can't help but to represent. WHAT UP CALI?

Graffomat

Buy and Bomb? Really? The fact that someone thought of coming up with a paint and marker vending machine and then actually putting the plan into action definitely deserves some applause. Those machines definitely aren't photoshoped in so someone must of had the time and the funds to put this all together. Of course this could never really work considering that nearly half of LA, London, and New York would be storming the streets with bats and crowbars waiting to get their hands on some free merchandise.  Everything'd be ransacked in an hour, and don't even get me started on the "keep this city clean" community backlash. Besides all that, still a great idea.

Please don't Mind the Broken Fingaz

I usually try to avoid this word at all cost but in this case I just have to say it. This video is DOPE. Broken Fingaz Crew of Isreal [of all places] has got their graffiti game down pact. Few times have I been in aw but they definitely deserve for my jaw to drop.

Mobstr Takes on the World

Browsing the internet as I usually do [when I should be doing college stuff. overrated]  I stumbled upon a fella named Mobstr. Probably the Highlight of my Friday morning. You can't hate on a guy who takes a whole city on all on his own.

Bacon Egg & Cheese

Lunchbox collection by San Francisco [hometown HOLLAAAA] based artist Dan Kenneally. Bright colors with very simple lines. Minimalism at its finest. Each 18 x 18 acrylic painting'll run you about $200 a pop with a build your own option for $225. You could EASILY do this on your own with about 12 bucks and 10 minutes of your time, but hey, support the arts right?
