M.I.A: Steppin Up

So I think we all knew that this was coming. To be very honest, I've been waiting for her to drop something new for about 3 years now, so to say the least I'm kind a excited. When Kala first came out I bought it on a whim, which I something that I RARELY ever do. Little did I know, I had stricken gold, but at this time none of my friends wanted to hear what I had to say about her. Later on I bought her previous album, which was also golden but still, no one I knew cared about her. Soon enough Pineapple Express comes out, bing bang boom everybody's on her D, she's a superstar. WE'VE ALL STRICKEN GOLD.

Unlike the usual M.I.A, MAYA features a lot of hard, heavy hitting songs--WHICH I LOVE. It's pretty obvious that she's got a major dub-step influence so I think it's bomb that she's slowly gaining a little more hardcore street cred. Even though she gets pretty political, as usual taking stabs at the internet and the government, she gets pretty poppy. Wait, is she talking about tequila? Is that a reggae song? Yes it is. While I haven't listened to the whole album as of yet, I'm pretty excited to see what else Sri Lanka's finest has brought to the table.

  1. im so happy that she finally has somthing new out!

  2. OMG we almost have the same story.
i had arular i found it bc i listened to some indian music and she just showed up one time, i bought her second cd and LOVED IT and noone liked it, everyone said it was noisy and annoying and YES, pineapple express came out and all the sudden she was dope.
I haent picked up her new album yet but from what i here its not that great.
    IDK yet though.

  3. random garage noise lovely.
i wish i knew what she was saying but it just doesn't matter.

Lol @ the "we've all stricken gold" part
